Chapter 11 - The Plan (4)

It wasn’t long before Doug was walking Ronnie and Steve back to their dorms.

“I’ll see you both at the frog. Steve, be sure to wait for Ronnie before you cross the yard.” Doug paused for a second “she may need your help.” Steve knew he meant Ronnie would be able to help him, but he appreciated the façade.

“Sure thing.” He smiled, it was nice having friends that cared about his feelings.

“I can’t hear them” Sara hissed at Jason, who was straining behind a large boulder trying to catch what was going on. He held up his had to hush her, a gesture that would normally have had dire consequences, but in her desperation it was forgivable.

As the three friends walked away, Jason whispered over his shoulder to Sara “They are going to meet at the frog.”

“The what? How the freak are we suppose to know where a stupid frog lives.”

“I think they meant the statue.” Jason hoped his sarcasm didn’t slip out. “The statue of a frog by the woods, you know, the one you said was disgusting.”

“Why didn’t you just say that to begin with?” Sara prided herself on making her ignorance someone else’s fault. “So when?”

“They didn’t say exactly, but I would guess after lights out. Doug can get around campus without anyone thinking twice, but the other two will need to be in their rooms by curfew if they don’t want to get in trouble.”

“Fine, meet me at my dorm right after lights out. Then we will go over together.”

“But my dorm is closer to the frog, why don’t you meet me at mine?” It was clear Sara was about to explode. “I mean, if you have to wait for me to come all the way over to your dorm, then come all the way back past mine, we’ll miss them entirely.” Although Sara hated the idea that Jason had a better idea than hers she also couldn’t argue with logic, and if they missed them the whole plan would be shot.
